As a teacher, I understand that educating children on sensitive issues can be difficult and sometimes confusing. It can be hard for us to know what information we should provide them with and how much we should tell them.
We want to educate our pupils effectively without scaring them or misleading them and we want them to feel they can open up to us if they’re having difficulties.
Forced marriage affects thousands of young girls and an increasing number of boys around the UK and I know if I could help prevent it, I’d want to. Sometimes it is just difficult to know where to begin and many of us make snap judgements about things before we know the details.
