New research confirms Omega-3s role in treating depression

omega3_depressionThe use of Omega-3 supplements is effective among patients with major depression who do not have anxiety disorders, according to a study directed by Dr. François Lespérance of the Centre de recherche du Centre hospitalier at the Université de Montréal (CRCHUM), head of CHUM's Department of Psychiatry and a professor at the Université de Montréal.

Ease Muscle Pain After Exercise by 25% with Ginger

ginger_eases_muscle_painFor centuries, ginger root has been used as a folk remedy for a variety of ailments such as colds and upset stomachs. But now, researchers at the University of Georgia have found that daily ginger consumption also reduces muscle pain caused by exercise.

While ginger had been shown to exert anti-inflammatory effects in rodents, its effect on experimentally-induced human muscle pain was largely unexplored, said Patrick O'Connor, a professor in the College of Education's department of kinesiology. It was also believed that heating ginger, as occurs with cooking, might increase its pain-relieving effects.

Natural Treatments For Enlarged Prostate BPH

Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) or enlarged prostate is a benign (non-cancerous) disease of the prostate gland, which, if left untreated, can lead to medical complications including kidney and bladder damage.

If BPH is diagnosed and treated early, there is a lower risk of developing these complications. Enlargement of the prostate typically affects men as they age and causes pressure on the urethra. This can lead to difficulty in passing urine, frequent trips to the bathroom at night and pain associated with sexual function. BPH is not a life-threatening disease but it is likely to negatively impact a man's quality of life.
