Prostate Cancer – Symptoms

It’s important to remember that any of the following symptoms do not necessarily indicate prostate cancer. Any condition affecting the prostate can cause these symptoms. However if you do experience any of these symptoms it is very important to talk to your doctor.

  • Having to rush to the toilet to pass urine
  • Difficulty in passing urine
  • Passing urine more often than usual, especially at night
  • Pain on passing urine
  • Blood in the urine or semen

The last two symptoms - pain and blood - are rare in prostate cancer.

With both prostate cancer and other enlargement of the prostate symptoms are usually due to the growth placing pressure on the urethra blocking the flow of urine.

Other Symtpoms of Prostate Cancer

Prostate Cancer usually grows very slowly and symptoms can be mild over a couple of years. Secondary Prostate cancer where the prostate cancer cells have spread to the bones can cause pain in the:

  • Back
  • Hips
  • Pelvis
  • Other bony areas.
