  • Maintain good posture.

  • A small pillow or rolled towel used to support the lower back eases pressure while sitting or driving.

  • Do not ride or drive for long periods in a vehicle; take frequent breaks to walk around.

  • Avoid standing for extended periods; wear shoes without heels.

  • Use a firm mattress.

  • If you find yourself doing heavy lifting, take appropriate precautions while lifting and bending.

  • Moderate exercise to strengthen back muscles is advisable as lax and weak muscles predispose you to backaches.
