Rest the Joint

If suspected fracture, immobilize and seek medical attention

Where possible raise the joint to avoid further swelling

Wrap a moist heating pad around the painful joint for 15-20 minutes to relieve chronic joint pain.

Apply heat to relieve chronic pain and ice to relieve acute pain
-
Exercise within the normal range of your body without over-stretching
-
Massage the joint
-
Take a pain medication to relieve the pain
-
See your doctor if the pain does not improve in 3 days or worsens
