High Cholesterol – Symptoms

You can’t tell if you have high cholesterol. High Cholesterol can lead to hardening and narrowing of the arteries which can lead to cardiovascular disease. The symptoms are the results of the cardiovascular disease and depend on the extent of the hardening, the likelihood that a plaque will rupture and the organs supplied by the affected arteries.

  • Angina: narrowed coronary arteries in the heart

  • Leg Pain when exercising: due to narrowing of the arteries that supply the legs

  • Ruptured Plaques: Can lead to a blood clot forming in one of the arteries delivering blood to the heart

  • Cholesterol Deposits: These show up as yellow patches around the eyes or on the skin and can often be seen in people with inherited high cholesterol.
