Hair Transplants
Hair transplants involve the surgical movement of 'permanent' hair along with its roots to an area of bald or balding scalp.
A hair transplant is a safe, minor surgical procedure that removes donor hair from the back or sides of the scalp (donor area) and placing them into the bald or thinning areas of the scalp (recipient area).
Hair transplantation ranks as the number one cosmetic procedure performed on men today. The reason for the transplant explosion of the past six or seven years is that the results gained from the procedure are so much better than they once were.
Hair Transplant Surgery has evolved dramatically with the gold standard now being Follicular Unit Grafts. A follicular unit is a microscopic group of hairs that naturally grow together. The hairs are transplanted in groups of 1-4 hairs.
With Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE), a specialized punch, less than 1mm in diameter, is used to extract the hair from the scalp. The main advantage of this technique is that follicular units are extracted directly form the scalp rather than in larger groups and doesn't require the use of scalpels or stitching.
The end result is a hair transplant that looks totally natural because it is created in the way that hair naturally grows.
