Comparing the muscle tissues in the two groups, the researchers noted that there were some signs of damage in the inactive group whereas they were completely normal in the active one.
However, the greatest discovery was observed in the mitochondria of the morphed mice. The mitochondria turned out to be younger and healthy. From other studies, it has been found out that mutation in DNA over the lifespan results to a progressive reduction in both the tissue and function of an organ which promotes aging. Tarnopolsky acknowledged that the results of the study could apply to the human population. He has higher expectations that the results of the exercising mice will motivate people to engage more physically. He remarked that when the videos of the exercising mice circulate among the sedentary group, they can get shocked and participate in the exercise to stay young as well.
On previous studies, premature-aging mice were put in calorie restrictions and also involved a number of drugs but the results were less promising.
