Diabetes - Children - What next?
Read the book. Got the T shirt. What next?
The next couple of months will seem pretty different. You’ll be getting used to new routines and learning to plan ahead.
It’s only natural to feel worried. Remember your family, doctor and nurse are always there to help.
Diabetes really needn’t stop you doing almost anything you want.
“I wasn’t keen on injections. But actually, the needle is really tiny. The pen makes it pretty quick and easy to do them.â€
“I cried on and off for the first week. I was probably annoyed more than scared. My nurse said it was normal to be angry. After a while, everything sorts itself out"
“I was worried at first. There seemed a lot to remember. But after a couple of weeks, I could do my testing and injections on my own ok.â€
“I can do a test or eat a snack if I need to in class. No-one minds. My friends are used to it now.â€
“It’s a pain at times… but I don’t think diabetes has ever stopped me doing anything I’ve wanted to.â€
