After Breast Augmentation Surgery

Some people go home on the same day as surgery, while some will stay overnight. This will depend on your preferences and the extent of your surgery.
You can expect some discomfort in the initial post-operative phase, pain should be easily relieved over the counter medications. Bleeding or infection can cause more intense pain and you should report this to your surgeon immediately.
Bandages may or may not be used. If your surgeon does choose to use bandages, you can expect to have them taken off in 48 hours.
Bruising is usually minimal and is usually confined to the breasts themselves, this should fade within two to three weeks.
Dressings are kept to a minimum over the next two weeks. You will be seen again two or three days after the operation for a check up and to change your dressings and again about a week later. If you have any concerns in the mean time consult your surgeon.
Opinions vary as to when it is best to resume exercise again and it is best to follow the advice of your surgeon. As a general rule you will be able to begin gentle exercise like walking or riding a stationary bicycle about one week to 10 days after surgery. You can follow this with a gradual return to normal activities. Let your level of comfort be your guide. Restrict heavy activities for about four to six weeks.
It is important to wear a well fitted sports bra for two to four weeks following surgery to support your breasts.
